Opening expo van Pavol ZELINA @ dB's | Utrecht | Utrecht | Netherlands

Pavol ZELINA, born in Slovakia, grew up with a father and grandfather who both produced numerous paintings and artworks. Pavol did drawings and paintings since early childhood and became an autodidact artist whilst also pursuing a carrier as a neurobiologist. Over the last 15 years his artwork was focused on deconstructing the process of art production, and painting in particular, from initial moment of intention to paint up to the moment of finishing a painting. Exploring different aspects of the process as decision making, tolerance of mistake, conscious control over the actual paint placing, definition of the moment of finishing the painting, and others. His exploration has been influenced in particular by Prinzhorn collection of artwork created by patients of psychiatric institutions in Europe around in the beginning of 20th century. Over time these explorations led to creating a specific style of work that is also flexible to adopt various topics and ideas to further analyze and expand this approach. Pavol ZELINA lived and exhibited in Slovakia, Germany, USA and France. You can find more of his work on his website –
